Rolex
This rare and beautiful, vintage 1957 Rolex Oyster Royal Precision, reference 6422 is timeless and elegant, and a classic timepiece that will look as sharp on your wrist today, as it did 61 years ago, and as it will 100 years from now.
This manual wind movement, caliber 1210, runs perfectly.
This dial is quite unique, with arrowhead style markers at 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, & 11, and with unique "sticks" at 3, 6, & 9 that have an inward turned point and a ridge down the center. An elegant second hand in a subtle, reflective metallic blue adds just a subtle garnish of spirit and vitality, adding to the unique charm of this fabulous timepiece.
The smooth finished, bezel and non-numeral markers contribute to the clean lines predominant during the mid-century modern era, embracing sophistication while keeping a simple, elegant, and classic look. I bought this watch for myself about 20 years ago from the original owner. It has remained protected in a smoke-free and climate controlled environment since I purchased it, and I have worn it less than once a year since I've owned it.
The all stainless jubilee band was first introduced in 1956/57 making this one of the earliest examples, and quite the standout as the majority of stainless Rolexes during this time included the oyster bracelet.
The watch is in very good condition commensurate with its vintage quality. Minor, insignificant scratches on the crystal are barely visible to the naked eye, and the dial shows little wear. Another small, hair-thin scratch is visible on the case back from certain angles. The jubilee band has some stretch and wear. All of the minor imperfections are as to be expected with a timepiece of this age.
