The Rolex 6062 Stainless Steel versions were only made in the years 1950,1951,1952 and 1953. It is estimated that anywhere from around 100-300, total examples were produced in stainless steel, making them extremely rare. Today, far fewer watches actually exist in the market and from the examples that do exist, most of them show considerable wear or are not in the best shape. This is because in the early 1950’s, the stainless steel version was the cheapest from the 3 different 6062 references. Consequently, most owners did not take good care of these stainless steel variations over the years.
It is estimated that only about 20-35 stainless steel Ref # 6062’s exist today and over the years, these 20 examples or so, have only appeared about 50 times in the market place, indicating few ownership changes. There are also minor variations of the stainless steel versions, such as different dials, fonts, crowns, etc., making some variations even rarer.
