Introduced in 2000, the Patek Philippe World Time ref. 5110 was the
first World Time reference launched since the introduction of the ref.
2523 in 1953. Entering the new millennium with a bang, the ref. 5110
World Time adopting a much more contemporary case measuring 37mm in
diameter retaining its iconic inner rotating city wheel originally
invented by Louis Cottier.
The reference was released with four
case materials including yellow gold, white gold, pink gold and platinum
with each variant featuring a beautifully executed guilloché dial in
the center. Extremely practical, the Patek Philippe World Time has
become an icon in the world of horology as it is certainly a strong
candidate for the best timepiece for jetsetters, allowing the wearer to
keep track of both local and home time with just the click of a button
located at the 10 O’clock position of the caseband. The reference was
discontinued in 2006 making way for the new ref. 5130 featuring a larger
39.5mm diameter case.
