Dial case and movement signed. DIAM. 35 mm. THICKNESS 13 mm. The reference 1463 was launched in 1940. The Extract from the Archives confirms that the present watch was made in 1947 making this watch one of the early examples of this reference which continued in production until 1965. The majority were made in yellow gold. The reference 1463 is the only Patek Philippe vintage chronograph to have a water-resistant case and it has become one of the iconic watches of the companys production. It is interesting that Patek Philippe launched this luxury model and continued to produce it right through the HEIGHT of the Second World War illustrating that even during this very unstable period there was surprisingly still sufficient demand for expensive watches. This example has been maintained in excellent condition exhibiting two crips hallmarks to the side of the case and on the outer side of the lower right lug. This hallmark usually is no longer present due to being the most exposed and its presence is a testament to the excellent conservation state of the watch.
