The case is a three-body, polished and brushed, and the bezel is sloped. The manual winding Calibre 23-300 movement is rhodium plated with fausses cĂ´tes decoration and the quality hallmark stamp of the Seal of Geneva. It has 18 Jewels, a straight-line lever escapement, and a free-sprung self-compensating flat balance spring. It has a shock absorber mechanism and a monometallic balance that compensates for cold, heat, and isochronism. The case, dial, and movement are all signed. In 1968 Patek Philippe introduced the first model of their Ellipse collection reference 3548. It was an immediate classic. In 1977 they received a patent for their tiny, magnificent caliber 240 automatic movement, which would be placed in some of the greatest timepieces ever made, including the Ellipses. This example was made in the 1970's.
