Released in 1997, the Patek Philippe ref. 5060 was the firm’s very first Aquanaut model introduced, as well as the first Patek Philippe wristwatch fitted with a rubber strap. It is believed that the ref. 5060 was produced in limited quantities estimated at 1,000 examples for both stainless steel and yellow gold examples. However, Patek Philippe released the ref. 5065 the following year with a larger case size and a sapphire caseback. Released around the same time was the ref. 5066 in both stainless steel and yellow gold with a case dimension exactly the same as the ref. 5060 measuring 35.6mm diameter, however with a sapphire caseback.
