Jean Dunand was founded in 2003 by entrepreneur Thierry Oulevay and renowned watchmaker Christophe Claret. They both shared a fascination for Jean Dunand (1877–1942) a Swiss-born artist of the Art Deco era leading to the naming of their brand in his honor. Jean Dunand’s Piece Unique’s are Haute horology at its finest with a combination of the highest levels of exquisite finishing simple geometries and innovative craftsmanship. Claret has been making high complication watches since leaving Geneva Watchmaking School in 1981 and training with Roger Dubuis. He is known for his tourbillon pieces as well as his chiming and carillon watches with double-length cathedral gongs and he is the only watchmaker to produce water-resistant minute-repeaters.
