IWC created a range of watches celebrating 140 years of watchmaking, one watch designed of each collection. These watches were called the "Vintage" collection. They were available in stainless steel, 18ct white gold and 18ct rose gold. They included the following models: Portofino, Portugieser, Pilots, Ingenieur, Aquatimer and Da Vinci. This particularly, very rare model is the Vintage Pilots watch. The case is made in stainless steel and has a bi-directional bezel with arrowhead index. The watch is held on a thick brown alligator strap with matching stainless steel buckle. It is fitted with a highly complicated and decorated mechanical hand wound calibre 98000 movement, that is based on the original FA Jones pocket watch movement, the Calibre 83. The dial is based on many other vintage pilot watch dials, all black with oversized transferred numerals. It is completed with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal glass and case back that reveals the Jones style movement .
