In 2012 Ikepod announced at Baselworld their collaborative effort with renowned graffiti artist and designer KAWS. The reconceptualised Horizon model, released at Colette’s in Paris, was a union of haute horlogerie and contemporary art. Marc Newson’s classic pebble-shaped design with seamless integrated bezel references astrophysics’ theoretical “event horizon”, which is the boundary around a black hole from which nothing, even light, can escape. The 44mm diameter automatic watch featured a dial with KAWS iconic “X Eye” motif for the hands, and “Chomper” teeth design for the hour markers. Produced in four versions with red, white and black dials these unique timepieces captured KAWS style in an understated and playful way.
