The Price of Rarity and Pedigree

Very few watches have their own moniker and only the very elite watches in the world, actually get assigned a nickname that will actually stick around. This is the case for the Rolex 6263, also known as the "Albino". It is estimated that only 4 examples exist today, making it one of the rarest Rolex watches in the market.

What makes it so rare is the attractvie silver subsidiary dials. But this particular example is also very famous, because it once belonged to none other than, Eric Clapton, the very famous singer and songwriter.

Examples of the Albino hardly appear at auction or in the marketplace. So, what happens when you combine a great rarity of 4 known, with the famous pedigree of a well known celebrity like Eric Claptopn. Well, $1.376 Million to be exact.

The same watch with a regular dial and no prominent pedigree attached to it, usually commands about $75,000 at auction. So, in this case, the Rarity and Pedigree equals about $1.3 Million to be exact.
